The Overmax Handling Fee (new January 15, 2026)

Any Extra-Large item exceeding 96 inches on its longest side, or 130 inches in combined length plus girth, is classified as "Overmax" and incurs an additional $17–25 per unit surcharge on top of the standard Extra-Large fulfillment fee. Toggle the Overmax option in the calculator above if your product qualifies — this catches sellers of large furniture, exercise equipment, and similar oversized goods off guard, since it's easy to miss if you're only tracking weight.

Finding your exact size tier

Always measure your packaged product — including box, padding, and any inserts — not the bare item. A small item in a large box gets charged at the larger tier. Amazon's official size tier definitions: Small Standard (≤15in longest side, ≤1lb), Large Standard (≤18×14×8in, ≤20lb), Large Bulky (up to 50lb), Extra-Large (up to 150lb, or Overmax above the dimensions noted above).

Storage fees and aged inventory

Beyond the per-unit fulfillment fee, FBA charges monthly storage — roughly $0.78 per cubic foot from January through September, rising sharply during the October–December peak season. Inventory that sits unsold accumulates additional aged-inventory surcharges at 181, 271, and 365 days, with a new 456+ day tier added for 2026. Amazon also tracks a per-FNSKU low-inventory-level fee if your stock runs too thin relative to demand. Check your Inventory Age and Fee Preview reports in Seller Central regularly — these two costs compound quietly and rarely show up in a simple per-sale fee calculation.
